Not sure how to start this post.. I was really gunning for the 3:05 BQ time and up until mile 19.5 I was ahead of schedule. Then at mile 20 I realized I needed to run a 42:14 10k to get there, which I could feasibly do so I went for it, then by mile 22 I was back to seven minute pace and still a little behind schedule. I tried one last surge at mile 23 when I had roughly 20 minutes for just over 3 miles but I did not have it in me. When I hit mile 24 I knew for sure I was not going to get it, so I was pretty bummed and slowed down. But then as I finished I realized I  still  set a new PR by over 20 minutes! So a pretty good day, would have been great if I could have hit the BQ. Wonderful day for my wife today she set a new PR by over 8 minutes!!

A 42:14 10k is a lot more feasible when it's not following a 20 mile run at a similar pace. Nice job going for 3:05.. Even at 23 miles when it was tough. The year's still young, and you'll nail the BQ by the end of it! Great race and PR, too! 20+ minutes is awesome!

Congrats to your wife, too! PR's are fun!

PR'd by 20 minutes is impressive! Great Job!

Great race, and a PR by 20 min is awesome! What part of Nebraska are you from? I am from O'Neill in N.E. Nebraska. I have been wanting to come back to my Home state to run a marathon

20 minute PR is pretty wonderful. Nice work.

Thanks Matt we are trying to decide our next races already!

Thanks Scott C. and Jon, it certainly made for an enjoyable day yesterday!

Marlin, thanks and I am from Columbus NE, this is my first year here though so not sure how close to O'Neill and Lincoln puts on a pretty good race!
